Mikimoto’s Baselworld 2014 collection presents a spectrum of colours Internationally famous for its signature pearl jewellery, Mikimoto entered the realm of colour using the finest precious gemstones in its Baselworld 2014 collection. These rare stones and precious metals have been combined in innovative ways to create illustrious one-of-a-kind pieces that showcase the natural and alluring splendour of the pearl.
One such collection Florence illustrates Mikimoto’s unparalleled expertise in designing and creating magnificent cultured pearl jewellery through a new prism of colour. For Florence, Mikimoto commissioned skilled artisans to hand-carve these distinct cameos that pay homage to Kokichi Mikimoto’s dream of adorning all the women of the world with pearls. Cameo is an ancient method of jewellery carving featuring a raised image contrasted against a dark background.
These astonishing pieces are a tribute to Mikimoto’s heritage as the reliefs are inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms in bloom with delicate floating pearls. Florence features a unique pendant, earrings and a multi-rowed strand with a detachable brooch, with 4.5-8.5mm Akoya cultured pearls and 12-13mm White South Sea cultured pearls, cameo shell and diamonds are set in 18k rose gold.
Mr. Madhursinh Jesrani, General Manager, Khimji’s Watches comments: “The collection underscores the enduring legacy of the company’s innovative founder, Kokichi Mikimoto, whose life-long goal was to redefine beauty by pushing the boundaries of exceptional quality and design. That legacy is on prominent display in these pieces that embody an indelible timelessness and elegance, while adding a new repertoire of exceptional cultured pearl jewellery”.
