When Oris’s Big Crown Pointer Date first entered the Oris collection in 1938,
more than eight decades ago, it became not just a watch but also a beautiful object that was
created for glove-wearing aviators (hence the oversized crown and clear Arabic-numeral dial)
Over the years, the Big Crown Pointer Date’s continued relevance owes much to the original
design and is also a reflection of its role in Oris’s revival after the 1970s Quartz Crisis, and in
the revival of the Swiss watch industry. Now, more than 30 years later, Oris has brought to
the world its latest interpretation: The Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date.
Wrapped in warm bronze, the watch pays ode to the brand’s industrial philosophy and the
eternal value of a Swiss Made mechanical watch. The Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date
continues the narrative of design principles that have made the original such an iconic
collection over the years. The solid bronze 40mm dial is chemically treated and coated with a
transparent matt lacquer to create a unique finish for every piece, another symbol, this time of
the unique status of the watch’s design.
The dial, also in bronze, features gold cathedral hands with the signature date track and a
central hand with a crescent red pointer to indicate the day. Inside this Oris Big Crown
Bronze Pointer Date is the classic Calibre 754 that runs at 28,800vph and offers 38h of power
reserve. It is visible through a sapphire caseback and features the trademark red rotor.
This spectacular artwork in bronze comes with a strap in Brown chamois deer leather and of
course, a bronze buckle.
